Our previous anchorage at Epi Island was really rocky, so we were relieved to find this calm lovely anchorage. We went ashore to a mangrove rimmed island to speak with the chief. All of the island villages have a chief and it is customary to ask permission to swim or go ashore. As we walked through the mangrove forest on a sandy walking path, small little crabs scurried for cover. We found the small village, residence for 2 or 3 families, but the chief was not there at that time.
